The dawn of the year 2021 at last! I decided to start a new blog to capture what information may fall between the cracks, between what I may post on Facebook, Instagram, and what few things I may post on Twitter.

Life has been busier this past month as both Moyia and I have started to move our primary physician visits locally to Burnt Store Marina.  As of today, I've seen my primary doctor twice (blood work is fine), also twice for my gastrologist (office visit and colonoscopy) and once for my cardiologist to set up a stress test, echocardiogram, and CT calcium test (which I tried to explain to my doctor in Tennessee).  Nothing is wrong, other than my cardiologist calling me fat and that I do not drink moderately at one or zero drinks a day (He's right on both counts of course, but he's a tough love kind of guy).  I just wanted to get a good baseline going into my 60s.

Other than the doctor visits, we hit a grocery store (Wal-Mart, Publix and/or Aldi's) maybe once a week, and if we miss anything, the Dollar General just outside of our community is actually a very nice place to pick up odds and ends.

We do a couple of golf cart rides a week, mostly lapping both the north and south basins of the marina proper, with a few side jaunts to areas of interest.

We're starting to hit some golf balls at the driving range with somewhat mixed results, but we'll keep up the good effort.  Our hope is to join the golf club and hit the links a few times a week without overtly embarrassing ourselves (LOL).

We keep the pool heated on the milder days.  The heat pump runs in the morning and once the sun is up the pool warms quickly, nothing like our pool in Tennessee where one has to plan ahead looking at weather forecasts.  So we're in the pool almost every day, Moyia sometimes multiple times a day.

We have a weekly "social" outside in our cul-de-sac at 4pm.  The attendees are folks from our local neighborhood for the most part.  Everyone brings their chairs, adult beverages, a few lap dogs, and we all sit in a big circle.  Moyia and I are by far the youngest in the crowd, and for some, we're younger than their own children.  It's good, and sometimes funny, conversation.

Happy New Year!

  1. THIS IS JUST A TEST COMMENT
Had it been a real comment, I would have asked out of curiosity if you have to SHOUT across the tarmac during your weekly cul-de-sac socials
to make the "real" seniors hear you?

  2. I will try again.
Good to hear from you. Especially that you and Moyia are getting all lined up
with local doctors and doing well.

Liked your pictures. You and Moyia behave yourselves sitting around with those
    "old folks".

Been talking to the BAM crew and they have been sending messages on my
    Heart Box, So neat.

I'll cut this short and see if it goes through.

Happy New Year. Love you both.
    Love,
    Mom
